Urgent message about re-enrolling in Texas Medicaid

Posted on

August 2023

Dear Disability Rights Texas Client or Former Client:

If you found this page on our website, you likely recently received a text message from Disability Rights Texas about your Medicaid coverage. Here is what you need to know:

Our records show that you or a family member receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. On April 1, 2023, Texas Medicaid resumed the Medicaid eligibility renewal process for some recipients and will soon begin renewals for those who receive SSI.

If you or a family member are eligible for SSI and you receive a letter from Texas Medicaid saying you or your family member will no longer be eligible for Medicaid, you can appeal this decision by following the instructions included in the letter. If you want to appeal, you should do so within 13 days of the date of the letter to maintain your Medicaid benefits throughout the appeal process.

If you have any questions, or have already appealed the termination of your Medicaid eligibility and want to talk to us about your appeal, please send us an email at: MedicaidIssues@DRTx.org

Please see our website resource, Get Ready to Renew Your Medicaid or CHIP Coverage, for more information.

Sincerely,

Terry Anstee, Supervising Attorney
Healthcare Advocacy Team

Please note we are not acting as your attorney concerning the above issue. Responses you receive from us via email, phone, or in any other manner do not create or constitute an attorney-client relationship between you and Disability Rights Texas.
