In case you were wondering, here are some reasons why we are introducing a new logo.

Why are we creating a new logo?

  1. We wanted to add a visual element (the star) that represented Texas. The current logo is text only. Adding a visual element helps people who speak other languages or who aren’t English readers to more readily recognize our brand.
  2. We chose a star because we are the Lone Star State, the name of our monthly giving program is Lone Star Champions of Access, and because other things that represent Texas just didn’t look right (like a bluebonnet or an outline of the state or the state flag).
  3. The current logo is horizontally oriented which causes some challenges for graphic design, social media, and other communications elements. The new logo will give us more options and is better balanced from a graphic design standpoint.

If you want to represent Texas, why not use red and blue?

  1. We wanted to give a nod to Texas without going over the top.
  2. We also felt like changing to red and blue was too much of a change and would help us in phasing out the old and transitioning to the new.

Once the logo is finalized, will we be throwing out other materials with the old logo?

  1. Absolutely not! As we run out of materials, we will reprint with the new logo.
  2. With our more expensive items such as the branded tablecloths and exhibit displays, we will not change those yet. In fact, we are not ordering the branded tablecloths anymore because they are very expensive and seem to get misplaced or disappear. For our vertical displays, we will see if we can add a layover piece to the current ones or slowly change those out over time.
