Disaster Services Provided by the American Red Cross

Learn about the disaster services provided by the American Red Cross and how their services can help people with disabilities prepare for, and recover from, disasters. When a disaster occurs, the American Red Cross works to support people with disabilities so they can maintain their independence in the least restrictive setting and maintain optimal health. For example, shelter facilities are assessed for accessibility, disaster mental health services are made available, and a Disability Integration Advisor provides expertise on disability integration, access, and functional needs support.

This video was part of Disaster Resilience Month. In March, Disability Rights Texas and Equal Justice Works teamed-up to spread awareness about disaster-related legal challenges and share resources for disaster preparedness and recovery efforts.
