Officials report 31 new coronavirus cases at the Denton County State Supported Living Center

There are now 39 reported cases of COVID-19 at the center, which employs over 1,400 workers and is home to nearly 450 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“This is something we are both very concerned about but very proactive about,” Gov. Greg Abbott said Friday during an interview on KXAS-TV (NBC5). “We will stay on top of this to make sure that everybody who is connected with that facility, whether they be someone who lives there or somebody who works there, will both be tested and taken care of.”

Residents make up all the cases so far, except for one staff member who lives outside Denton County and tested positive, County Judge Andy Eads said.
