Court approves settlement agreement with Austin ISD

On September 4, 2024, the court approved a settlement agreement in a lawsuit filed against Austin ISD (AISD) in March 2021 by Disability Rights Texas (DRTx) and individual plaintiffs regarding delayed special education evaluations.

“We are pleased to reach this agreement on behalf of hundreds of children who attend AISD schools,” said Kym Davis Rogers, Supervising Attorney at DRTx. “Most importantly, AISD has committed to the timely evaluation of students with disabilities and established a $4 million dollar fund to provide compensatory education to students whose evaluations were delayed.”
