We need your help to preserve the human rights of Texans with disabilities

A federal budget document leaked last week proposes major cuts to the U.S. Health and Human Services budget and includes complete elimination of two of our biggest federal grants. While this hasn’t happened yet, as an agency we must be prepared since these specific cuts would severely impact our ability to protect and advocate for Texans with developmental disabilities and mental illness.

Also, we recently unexpectedly lost some funding that supports work that our federal grants do not. And we don’t know what other funding might end up on the chopping block in the months to come.

While the donations you have generously given in the past have been absolutely crucial in supplementing our dwindling federal funding the past several years, we’re going to need your support now more than ever.

We realize many of you are facing your own financial struggles right now. But for those of you who are not or work for companies with the ability to give, we need your help to cover the current shortfalls we face.

For individuals who can give, would you consider a $100 or more donation? Would your business consider a $1,000 or more donation?

If you can’t help monetarily, you can still help by sharing our donation links with others who might be able to give. You can also help by following us on social media and liking, commenting and sharing our posts so we reach more people with our urgent messages.

We don’t usually ask for donations so bluntly and directly. But things are different right now. If you will do whatever you can to help, you’ll be part of a community of people throughout the nation who are committed to ensuring the human rights of people with disabilities are preserved.

Thank you for your past support and for any way you can help us now.
